The Everlasting Straw Flower

October 22, 2012

Wreath of straw flowers, Gordon Skagit Farms

We got a behind-the-scenes look at some of the flower beds that supplied the decorative displays and items for sale at Gordon Skagit Farms.  I was particularly drawn to the soft, pastel coloring and the tight patterns of petals on the straw flowers.

Straw flowers are also called everlastings.

Such beautiful flowers in quiet colors

I think the posterized effect works well with this flower.

When I was little, I had a Revlon doll that had a straw hat with straw flowers – but they were real straw. It’s only been in the past year I’ve known there are “real” straw flowers. They’re so pretty.

And I like those final photos. I like th posterized effect, too.

The tight pattern reminds me a bit of a crown. Very pretty.

I love these flowers and have found they are not all that difficult to grow. I like the posterized effect too, very nice.
