Harvesting for market, Jello Mold Farm

“Mid-July comes and the palette of blossoms shifts to hotter colors, as if in their vividness they were reflecting the sun.”
— Verlyn Klinkenborg, More Scenes from the Rural Life

I saw some evidence of vibrancy in the flower fields at Jello Mold Farm this past week.  The deep reds and oranges of the crocosmia, poppies, and sneezeweed glowed in their jeweled presence.  And the sunny yellow sunflowers were starting to burst into bloom.

Embroidered mini-quilt for July

Embroidered mini-quilt for July

I made a set of these mini-quilts for my daughter on her 12th birthday.  For many years she changed the little quilts each month through the year.  Now she is in college and has put away many childish things.  I hope that someday she’ll display them again when she has a home of her own.

Here is my Summer “To-Do” List for hot July and August days:

  • Jump rope
