Lost: Ambition
January 7, 2012
“Lost: Ambition.
Found: A good book,
an old sweater,
loose shoes.”
— Jim Harrison and Ted Kooser, from Braided Creek: A Conversation in Poetry
This short poem describes exactly what I am feeling on these gray, cold, rainy days of winter. But I suppose you could take one look at my pile of books and accuse me of being an ambitious reader! I call it pure indulgence. One of the best pleasures in life is a large stack of interesting library books waiting to be read.
