The Gitchi Gami State Trail runs through Gooseberry Falls State Park.  When completed, this will be an 89-mile paved recreational trail along the North Shore between Two Harbors and Grand Marais, Minnesota.  We enjoyed the many wildflowers that grew along the trail.

I just was out this weekend, looking for goldenrod. No flowers yet! I know we have Joe Pye weed, but I’ve never seen it, that I know. Fireweed doesn’t grow here, and I don’t think the flat-topped aster does, either. It really is amazing, the variety across the country. There’s always something new to see.

what a lovely trail to walk. I’ve never seen Joe Pye weed growing wild here, but I’ve seen it sold in nurseries as a perennial.
