I laughed at the grassy field with a few tulips scattered around. I’ve never seen volunteer tulips before — at least to my knowledge. You’ve got several wonderful photos here, especially the third. I think the clouds are what make them all so remarkable. We tend to see tulips in bright sunlight, but the dark, almost foreboding nature of a couple of these photos make them much more complex and interesting.

We have a lot of this sort of weather. I had gotten up extra early to be in the Skagit Valley at sunrise. But to my disappointment, the clouds were too thick for a colorful sunrise. But you are right, they make a dramatic background setting for photos.

    Aren’t they early this year???

    • Rosemary Says:

Yes, the tulips are early. There were articles in the paper before I left for Nebraska about how early this year’s tulips were. I worried that I would miss the peak, predicted for late March. I am glad I made an effort to drive up to the Skagit Valley soon after my return to the Pacific Northwest.
