One More Thing
September 5, 2014
“What is there to get up for in the morning? The answer is a simple one: we get up in the morning, go through one more boring or difficult, exciting or exhausting, restless or depressing day, in order to discover one more thing about life.”.
— Joan Chittister, Welcome to the Wisdom of the World
What will I discover today?
What did you discover yesterday?

Yesterday, I discovered that one of my three battery-powered lanterns has gone kaput. Then, I discovered the true pleasure of Amazon prime: it’s not just for books, any more! I should have bought into free two-day shipping long ago. I suppose it’s a little early to hope for drone delivery, but my new lanterns on the way.
Here’s a bonus. The others are so old they have fluorescent tubes. The new one will be LED.

I happen to have two discovery filled days. Yesterday my sister and I were treated to the creative talents of hundreds of quilters at the annual quilt show in Madison. Then we took a zen stroll through nearby Olbrich Gardens. Hydrangeas especially lovely.
Today I plan to attend the Sheep and Wool Festival and watch border collies and sheep; then peruse the wool product vendor booths.

Don’t you just love days like that, when your most important thing is just to absorb the colors and energy and creativity of the people and sights around you. I’ve only ever watched sheep and dog trials once, and it was fascinating.
