The Sky, the Sky!
August 1, 2013
Another rare, cloudless evening watching the sun set over Elliott Bay in Seattle. We enjoyed a picnic supper at Golden Gardens and then stayed at the beach until the sun went down. A perfect summer day.
” . . . the vastness of the sky will naturally lead the mind to contemplate infinities; it is wholly apt to associate the sky with expansiveness of the spirit, with joy and freedom and holiness.”

I’d call that Shilshole Bay, but maybe that’s just a Ballard thing….I love the silhouetted beach-partiers, and in the second photo, that one shaft of light between the peaks, and everyone stops what they are doing to pay respect to the setting sun. Neat that you were able to capture the kayakers in the distance, too. You make it look remote–I want to picture a secluded log cabin behind you! I won’t tell anyone if you won’t…. It’s cool to see the common places of one’s daily life portrayed through the artist’s eye. Thanks!

You may be right. Elliott Bay is perhaps closer to downtown. Shilshole Bay it is.

It’s Elliott Bay for me – my mother was an Elliott, with two “l’s” and two “t’s”. I like to think one of the clan made it all the way out there, instead of getting stuck in the midwest with the rest of them. 😉
