A window into my world
“Poetry is the synthesis of hyacinths and biscuits.” — Carl Sandburg
White hyacinths
Hyacinths with tulip
What? No biscuit pics? 😉
Blessed day to you, Friend Rosemary.
I am leaving the biscuits to everyone’s imaginations today. Happy Easter!
I can’t help but think of the other pairings in poetic history:
Bread and Roses (James Oppenheim) Sapphires and Garlic in the mud (T.S. Eliot) Diamonds and Rust (Joan Baez)
I didn’t know of Sandburg’s reference – thanks!
I have just recently “discovered” hyacinths because a friend gave me some for Easter. I had no idea they were so fragrant! I posted a photo of my neighbor’s hyacinths today at http://defeatdespair.wordpress.com. I love the quote!
Lovely photo, so evocative of Spring. Thanks.
