Fair Daffodils

March 18, 2013

“Fair daffodils, we weep to see
You haste away so soone;
As yet the early rising sun
Has not attain’d his noon . . .
We have short time to stay, as you,
We have as short a spring;
As quick as a growth to meet decay
As you, or anything.”
— Robert Herrick, “To Daffodils”

It’s hard to think of the end of daffodil season when the blooms have just arrived.  They are one of the early Spring blooms, in a long succession.  I’m enjoying their splash of yellow while I can.

    Very nice photos. I especially like the third one taken at the Pike Place Market. I have been photographing some here as well. Some of my orange centered ones came up this spring. I went and picked some at an old homesite where they bloom every year.

    The ones on my table right now are soooo fragrant! Beautiful photos.
