Skyline of a Shelf of Books

One of my shelves of books
“I prefer the skyline of a shelf of books.”

I may be a farm girl at heart, but I’ve now lived over two-thirds of my life in cities. I do prefer urban living — not the fast, workaholic pace of a skyscraper career, but rather the urban neighborhood life. I appreciate the uniqueness of the various Seattle neighborhoods, and I like having access to excellent public libraries, corner coffee shops, professional theater, art museums, public transportation, and people of diverse interests and backgrounds. I like being within walking distance of good grocery stores, coffee shops, parks, and my workplace.
I would miss all these urban attractions if I ever moved back to the country. But I suppose I could become comfortable in almost any setting, as long as I had a shelf or two of good books to accompany me.
